COVID 19 Ministry Response Team

Meeting the Basic Needs of the "Structurally Challenged"

Each Tuesday and Thursday during this COVID 19 Crisis, our Lead Team makes sure everyone gets new PPE, makes sure all are Social Distancing, and collect dirty laundry, or delivering fresh laundry. Our Bus, now a Mobile Pantry, provides nonperishable foods, hygiene items and clothing needs. Our Healthcare Team makes sure our guests get their medications, check temperatures, blood pressures, and dress wounds, etc. Another Team delivers warm prepared food prepared and/or donated by various supporters. In early 2021 we added an additional 15 Pass anger Van that has a fixed route that picks up guests interested in coming in for a shower, haircut, and other available services.

Each Tuesday since the inception (and now Thursdays) of Matthew's Hope Ministries in March 2010, staff members, new and dedicated volunteers, and many of the "least of these" of our community, gather at a common location to engage in what has become known as "Tuesday Ministries" Services.

So, what happens on Tuesdays & Thursdays at the Matthew's Hope Outreach Center located at 611 Business Park Blvd. in Winter Garden?  Guests arrive between 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., check in**, drop off their bags and belongings, and enjoy a hot breakfast, lunch, and dinner to go.  They are offered a warm shower, shave, a hair cut, one load of clothing laundered, and new clothing if needed.  They can visit our nurse or mental health counselors, shop for nonperishable food items in the Garden of Eatin' food pantry, or select hygiene items through a volunteer personal shopper.

Some guests visit with staff members who assist them with various benefits, identification cards or other services.  Other guests and volunteers simply visit, play games and share in fellowship with others on Tuesdays.

Most importantly, every guest is shown the Love of Christ through the Call to Serve as detailed in the book of Matthew 25: 35-40, from which the ministry derives its name.  Each guest, in their own unique and special way, departs at the end of Tuesday Ministries Services Day better for having been present, and better prepared to "hide in plain sight" in our shared community.

Any and all who are within the scope of "Who We Serve" includes any  person who is currently homeless and has some connection to our community is welcome to arrive at the Outreach Center to participate in Tuesday Ministries Services Day.

**NOTE:  First Time Guests participate in an extended Intake Process, including a background check.  Only those with prior sex-related criminal offenses are exempted from becoming a welcomed guest of the ministry, for legal purposes.
